Setting: Eben’s Spur
Cast: Daffyd, Marcus, Tark, Elle, The Party
.
The party has arrived in Eben’s Spur. Regardless of how they arrive they will be met by the militia and brought directly to Eben’s Manor, which is serving as a battlefield command center.
The town looks radically different from when the PCs left. The docks have been destroyed. The chain is up across the river, and the mechanism to lower it has been melted to slag. Many buildings have been burned and the town smells of burnt wood.
The faces of the townsfolk are haggard and dejected, and there are many missing people. Roughly one in two people are just gone. People hurry from place to place and seem to avoid moving about where possible. The aura of fear is almost palpable.

Events
- The PCs are brought straight to the Manor. If they have the knights from The Fist with them the knights are brought to the Cathedral as temporary barracks. Both battlemages are willing to go with them, but Ana asks if she can stay with Terwynn.
- When the PCs enter the manor they see Marcus, Daffyd and Tark standing around his dining room table. The table is covered with maps and they appear so engrossed in strategy that at first they don’t hear the PCs enter. They are arguing. Have Marcus finish”…that’s suicide for the town. We can’t leave.”
- The council realizes the PCs have arrive and stop what they are doing to talk to them. They pump the PCs for information, gathering all the details they can. They are particularly alarmed by Vestes stopping the patrols, and by whoever this Vala is.
- Daffyd is outraged that Vestes is doing nothing, and comments that the tribute is worthless at a time when they need soldiers.
- After they have debriefed the PCs Marcus will explain what happened in their absence. The Bone Eater attacked the wall with nearly 1,200 raiders. The militia was hard pushed to fight them back, even with the aid of the council. Then nearly 300 orokh shamblers invaded the docks. Even though this attack was suspected they were only able to leave a small reserve force there, and it was quickly overwhelmed.
- The shamblers grabbed as many people as they could and forced them onto every boat in the harbor. Over 1,500 people were kidnapped and taken south, under the watchful eye of the dreadlord. She left the orokh to beseige the town, which is a highly devious plan.
- The heroes cannot leave as long as the are beseiged, so they can’t pursue the dreadlord. They are forced to remain stationary, but lack the strength to destroy the orokh since they are led by several very powerful vampyr. During the initial class Marcus was almost killed, but Daffyd and Martos were able to pull him out.
- Elora was sent south to tail Nebiat. They are hoping she will find out where Nebiat is going so that she can return with the information. She has been gone for two days with no word.
- The council is undecided on a course of action. They know that they must find Nebiat before she can slaughter the 1,500 people she took from the town, but they are powerless to pursue her. If they do the town won’t be able to stand against the Orokh.
- Marcus tells the PCs that they can rest for the night, but they are holding a full council meeting the following morning and want them to be present to tell the council their story. Marcus is hoping that they are able to come up with a course of action at this meeting.
- Marcus, Daffyd and Tark are willing to discuss strategy and will stay up as long as the PCs have topics to discuss.
