Setting: Cathedral

The bells at the gate towers begin to ring as Marcus is finishing his speech. This triggers a flurry of activity as the town prepares for immediate assault. A rider barrels through the main gates at top speed, and he is visible from the square. Then Orokh pour through the gate behind him.

Events
- Marcus immediately takes charge. He orders all militia members to report to their squad captains. They will form ranks and take the wall. The heroes will lead an assault to close the gate. Families are to barricade themselves inside of their homes.
-Marcus then turns to the party and tells them that they are charged with holding the cathedral. It will serve as a hospital, which will make a tempting target for the Orokh. Under no circumstances are they to let foes inside. If they protest this Marcus will lay down the law. They have an important job to do and they will do it.
- The heroes ride for the gates. If the PCs watch they will see them engage the Orokh and begin to drive them torwards the gates.
- A single bell clang comes from the docks. DC 15 perception check. If the PCs make it they will see the approaching zombie horde on the docks. They are moving rapidly towards the square, which means the PCs will have to decide what to do. Possible actions could be warning the heroes, or gathering everyone they can inside the cathedral.
- Combat encounter one begins
- When the PCs finish off the zombies Nebiat makes her appearance. She gives a speech about the PCs being annoying pests that she’s more than happy to remove personally. They can clearly see her vampyr nature, and should be frightened of her. Accomplish this through describing how quickly she moves (blurs), and that she is obviously a dreadlord (8th level class).
- Before the combat can begin the heroes will intervene. Tark comes hurling up the street. He hurls a javelin at Nebiat. She catches it, then the heroes engage her. She shouts out orders to her minions. “Invade that temple. Find the amulet”
- A more intelligent zombie with glowing eyes jumps the PCs with four regular zombie minions. See encounter two.
- After PCs beat encounter they see heroes drive Nebiat off. She leaves a good dozen zombies behind which the heroes mow down, but it means they can’t pursue her.

Encounters
- 2 Dozen Zombies. Pg. 288 Pathfinder Beastiary. They are slow shambling creatures with low intelligence. They can only approach four at a time if both doors are open, or two at a time if one is open. Alternately the PCs can close the doors, but the zombies will eventually batter them down.
- Zombie master is CR 2. 24 HP, 16AC. +4 to hit. d6 +3 damage
