Grond’s Last Day of Freedom

The day after the Praetor’s Ball is the last free day you have in Valys.  Tonight you dine with the Praetor, and tomorrow morning you will report for duty at the barracks.  From that point forward you belong to the Hasran Military.

What do you want to do on your last day?  Possible options include:

- Spend the day with Elle

- Work with Viktor to get Eldimagi made

- Speak to Daffyd regarding the meeting with Principus Regulus ‘Reg’

- Seek out Reg to see if he will sponsor you and/or Elle into House Valys

Your options are limitless.  If you can think of something you want to do simply post it as a comment below and we will roleplay it out before next session.  If it is something that can’t be roleplayed out for some reason we’ll handle it during game.

    Grond is still primarily concerned and motivated by making sure that he and Elle can be together. He would start the day by speaking with Daffyd about Principus Regulus and the prospect of being sponsored by him what it would entail and if Daffyd thinks it is a good idea. Assuming that Daffyd thinks the idea has merit then I would spend time trying to speak with Reg about sponsorship with the focus being keeping him and Elle together.

    If that doesn’t take all day he would spend any remaining time with Elle doing something romantic like taking in the sites of the city with a picnic somewhere interesting (top of the crater maybe). We would spend time talking about plans for the wedding although Grond probably wouldn’t have much to add. There would also be some building of intimacy as Elle begins to wear down the walls Grond has built up over the years to insulate the pain he has felt growing up half-orokh.

    Grond also wants to go to the Temple of Dalanthar and pledge himself to the Steward. With Elle accepting his marriage proposal and his recognition as a hero by the people of Eben Spur, Grond is beginning to feel less the monster and more the man. He wants to honor Tark’s memory by following in his footsteps and becoming a dedicated of Dalanthar which is something he always wanted but didn’t feel worthy of (which he is now starting to feel). This is something he would share with Elle if she was interested otherwise he would want to do so alone.

    Ok, so here’s how this will work. Based on your request we’re starting a scene that will lead to Grond and Elle heading to meet Daffyd. I’m writing it as snippets of fiction, and you can either reply in fiction or just post what you’d like Grond’s reaction to be.

    * * * * *

    Grond awakened to a warm stream of sunlight flowing through the eastern window of the lavish quarters he and Elle have been assigned. Angelic music echoed through the floor from somewhere below. A choir perhaps? It sounded a bit like the hymns to Aelianna that were sung every rest day back in Eben’s Spur.

    He shifted his bulk, pressing down the pile of blankets to peer at the far side of a bed easily large enough to sleep an entire family. Elle had already risen, though the spot she’d been laying in was still warm. Grond pushed himself into a sitting postion and rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

    “You’re awake,” Elle said, excitement coloring her tone. Grond turned to see her emerge from behind a dark blue changing screen.

    She wore a diaphonous white gown with sky-blue trim, hair cascading down her shoulders like a river of burnished copper. It was quite a contrast from the battle worn armor she usually wore.

    “If your mouthstaysopen like that a moth is likely to fly in,” she teased, approaching the bed and sitting on the edge. Her hands moved of their own accord to smooth the silky fabric of her dress. “I thought you’d want to get an early start so I’ve asked the servants tell Daffyd that we’d like to break our fast with him. Isn’t it odd, having servants? I feel like a noblewoman.”

    The words came out all in a rush, and she didn’t leave him room to respond before continuing. “Do you think we should petition Reg about joining House Valys? I know it’s a big step and it would mean a lot of changes, but it might be the best move for us. They’d have to let us stay together then.”

    Grond stretches and gets up out of the massive bed with a groan. “Staying together is the most important thing and I think joining House Valys is the best way to do that, but we should talk with Daffyd first as he knows more about these things than I do.” Grond takes Elle in his arms and stares into her eyes “I would burn the world to keep you by my side.” Grond then kisses Elle and releases her from his grasp moving towards the dresser to put his clothes on. “Well we have a long day ahead of us so we should get moving”.
