Letter from Martos to Daffyd

Daffyd,

It is with mixed emotions that I pen this letter  I am returning to Eben’s Spur, and Viktor will accompany me.  You no doubt wonder how this is possible, as my nephew just enlisted with the Hasran Military.

Promagnus Rota Enestius has welcomed Viktor into his house.  Viktor will marry his eldest great-grandaughter, and be promoted to the rank of Magnus.  Rota also made noises about grooming Viktor to be Principus, though I’m not sure whether that will ever come to pass.

As a sort of dowry Viktor requested that a garrison of Enestian troops be dispatched to Eben’s Spur to help protect it in the coming war. Rota granted this request, and even went so far as to commission a chapter house there for the Maker’s Guild.  However, there was a stipulation.  Viktor must to run this new chapter house.

Rota has exempted Viktor from military service  He has dispatched a griffin to Hasra to inform the Imperator, and I believe she will be more than willing to remand Viktor to Rota’s care.

This grants Viktor a tremendous amount of power, power he can use to keep our home safe during the coming war. It separates him from his cousin and companions, but he understands that such a sacrifice is necessary if he wishes to protect our people.

The Promagnus has ordered us to leave Valys at first light, which means by the time you read this we will already be traveling by Griffin to the city of LakeshoreFrom there we will take ship to Eben’s Spur, and I will send you word when we arrive.

Please tell Elle that Viktor sends his love, and that he wishes his companions success in all future endeavorsHe was greatly conflicted regarding this decision, but I have persuaded him that it is for the best.

Sincerely,

Martos
