History

Many wonders were forged during the millenia leading up to the godswar.  Nearly all of the finest were created by the Elder God Reevanthara, also known as the great smith.  Legends say that he used his hammer and forge to create the very cycle itself.

When Reevanthara was slain his hammer fell from the skies, impacting in a small mountain range not far from the coast of the Endless Lake.  Within days untyped trolls began making their way towards the massive catalyst, and before long a thriving nation of Dwarves grew around the hammer.

The hammer’s energies changed all the minerals in the surrounding mountains into enchanted metals and gems.  This allowed the dwarves to craft fabulous Eldimagi, and before long word spread to the surrounding lands of the fabulous wonders to be had.

Unfortunately this fame attracted the attention of several Orokh tribes in the area.  They gathered under the banner of a single power leader named Urkbar.  Urkbar promised the horde that fabulous riches were waiting for them to claim, and the bloodthirsty Orokh descended on the Dwarves like locusts.  The dwarves were annihilated and their wares distributed amongst the horde.

Years passed and more trolls were drawn to the Hammer.  They built a nation just as their forefathers had done, and it too was destroyed by the Orokh.  This cycle continued for thousands of years until the arrival of the Elentian Empire.

The Elentian’s were amazed by the power and majesty of the hammer, and immediately dispatched several legions to set up a garrison there.  Rather than wipe out the dwarves who controlled it they chose to enslave them.  They even encouraged untyped trolls to come to the Hammer, then enslaved them and sold them off to different parts of the empire once they became dwarves.

The fledgling province of Valys grew up around the hammer, and it’s coffers swelled from the slave trade of dwarves and the enchanted steel they mined.  After the Fall that prosperity allowed them to maintain control of the Hammer, which is the heart of their strength even now.
