Battlemage

Battlemages are both the most well known and most feared mages in the world.  Life Mages save lives and Diviners provide a glimpse of the future, but nothing can match the destructive power of a battlemage.  They hurl balls of fire and voidbolts with equal ease, reducing entire battalions to smoking piles of corpses within seconds.

More than one enemy has broken at the mere sight of a battlemage, and even those who hold their ground often take devestating losses before finally bringing the mage down.

Most military commanders are smart enough to understand what a powerful advantage battlemages provide, so they often provide them skilled protection the form of warmasters, paladins or fighters.  A battlemage is almost always the first target on every battlefield, so this protection can mean the difference between life and death.
