Illusionists wield one of the most devestatingly effective types of magic. A fireball might burn a man alive, but an illusion can hide an ambush or make a cliff seem like a simple mountain road. It can change the caster’s appearance, allowing them to impersonate others or even to vanish entirely.
Unfortunately, these powers have earned illusionists a very bad reputation. Because their powers allow them to easily trick and manipulate others most assume they are lacking moral character. This is reinforced by the fact that most illusionists fit that stereotype.
Regardless, Illusionists are so useful that they are in high demand by every government in the west. They make perfect spies, which makes a loyal illusionist an irreplacable asset.
