Chapter 4- Races

After choosing your character’s ability scores and archetype you must select a race for your character.  The races of Shattered Gods represent a diverse mix of cultures, traditions and values.  Savage northmen, reclusive Elfen and brutal Half-orokh all co-exist in the fragmented lands of the West.

The race you select will dramatically affect both how you play your character and how your character is viewed by others.  Humans are by far the dominant species in the West, and many view the other races with varying degrees of hostility.  Dwarves, for example, have traditionally been a slave race and free dwarves are often eyed with suspicion.

Many races have traditional roles based on their strengths and weaknesses.  Dwarves have a higher strength and constitution which makes them ideal for the more martial classes.  Elves have a bonus to intelligence and dexterity, which makes them superior rogues or ranged attackers.  That’s not to say that a dwarf can’t make a good mage or an elf an excellent fighter, but these racial abilities mean that the majority of a given race is often drawn to certain vocations.

Each race is presented using the following format.  They begin with the attribute modifiers, racial traits and abilities, then move on to a physical and cultural  description.  Following that is a description of the religion or religions each race commonly embraces.  Finally, there is a brief quote showing how each race views the others.
