You are skilled in a specific craft such as armorsmithing or weaving. The craft skill must be purchased separately for each craft the character wishes to master. Common examples are alchemist, armorer, bookbinder, bowyer/fletcher, carpenter, tailor, glass blower, jeweler, leatherworker, locksmith, potter, scultper, shipwright, cobbler, or weaponsmith.
Craft skills are designed to create items for the respective skill. Knowledge rolls about the profession belong under the Profession skill.
Check: The DC for a craft check is based on the complexity of the item you wish to create. A simple item is DC 10. A masterwork item is typically DC 20. Your gamemaster has final say on the appropriate DC.
The check suffers a -2 penalty if the tools must be improvised, but gaina a +2 bonus if masterwork versions are used. The cost of making the item is 1/3rd the worth of the finished product. The time to make a given item is based on the craft skill used, per the following chart:
[Craft Chart]
If you fail the check by five or more the item is ruined. If you fail by less you simply make no progress during that time increment. You can repair an item by making a check with a DC equal to what it would take to create the original, however the cost is 1/5th the finished price instead of 1/3rd.
