Campaign Overview

The second Shattered Gods campaign will begin on August 14th at 10am at Saul’s place in Elk Grove.  Please read this entire page before then.

.

What game are we playing?

Shattered Gods is based on the Pathfinder RPG, and uses the 3.5 Open Gaming License.  It is a game world of my own creation, and you can learn more about it by exploring this site.

The first thing you will want to read is the House Rules page, which explains some of the key differences between Shattered Gods and D&D 3.5 / Pathfinder.

..

What the game is about?

The elder gods were wiped out during the godswar.  Their shattered corpses dot the world, each a gleaming beacon of power called a Catalyst.  Adventurers the world over seek out these Catalysts, because each bestows a portion of the dead god’s power on any mortal who bathes in their energies.

Empires have risen and fallen fighting for control over these sources of eldritch power.  Now it’s your turn to seek out their incredible gifts.

.

Where is the game set?

The game is set in the city of Kent’s Caves.  The characters will need a reason to be there.  Those new to the setting should consider creating characters that grew up there.  This will make it easier to represent characters who know very little about the outside world.

...

What sort of character can I make?

I’d like to schedule an evening this week to speak to each of you regarding your characters.  Saul, can you do Wednesday and John can you do Thursday?  It shouldn’t take more than a half hour.

.

What level is the game starting at?

Characters will begin play at first level.  We will be using the slow experience track from the Pathfinder main book.

.

Will this be more of a hack & slash or roleplay centric game?

There will be a fair amount of combat, but the thrust of my campaigns is always about the story.  Come armed with some good ideas for character background, and be prepared for a lot of in character development and play.  If this sort of game doesn’t sound up your alley I’d suggest applying elsewhere.

This sounds right up my alley. +P This game very steampunk? I can’t remember? If so, I think I’d like to play something akin to a gageiteer, but if not, then I think I’ll just go pure fighter and play some sort of bad ass swords man….ooooor, and I just thought of this, a bard….but not a pussy ass bard…more like the bards from everdawn….the ones everyone wants in their party….uh, this is going to take some thinking and I’ll need to read more…..talk to you tomorow, dude. saul

There are a few Steampunk elements I’m working into the capital city of Hasra, but it’s understated in the game as a whole. A fighter could definitely work. Bard is a prestige class, so you can choose to become one at 3rd level if you’d like.

Most bards tare a mix of fighter, mage and/or rogue.
