Shattered Gods House Rules
I’ve prepared a short primer to help new Shattered Gods players. It’s designed for those familiar with D&D 3.5 or Pathfinder, so if you already know one of those systems you’ll find Shattered Gods much easier to understand.
.
What’s Different?
- Shattered gods has a much different class structure than 3.5/Pathfinder. Some have been added, others removed. Those differences are covered in the next section.
- Shattered Gods uses the Epic Six rules. Instead of the normal 20 levels you see in 3.5/PF there are only six. At sixth level a character gains a new feat for every 5,000 xp.
- Shattered Gods also introduces the concept of Catalysts. Catalysts grant special powers depending on which one a character encounters. This process is called catalization. Through a character’s career they will probably encounter a dozen or more catalysts.
- All characters begin play as touched. A touched character is naturally in tune with the magic of the world, and gains two free catalizations. One at first level and the other at second.
- Spells work differently as well. Most function as their 3.5 counterparts, but instead of schools they’ve been divided into aspects and greater paths. Both are covered here.

Classes in Shattered Gods
As I mentioned the class structure works differently in Shattered Gods. Wizard, Sorcerer, Paladin, Cleric, Ranger and Druid have been removed as base classes. Wizard & Sorcerer have been replaced with Mage. Druids and rangers are now 3rd level prestige classes, while Paladins and Clerics have been replaced with the Dedicated class.
Most other classes, like fighter, rogue, monk and barbarian work exactly as they do in 3.5 / PF. The new and/or modified classes are listed under the classes page.
.
Hit Points
All characters begin play with maximum hit points, so if your class has a d10 you simply get 10 per level. Constitution adds hit points as normal.
.
Experience
Experience in Shattered Gods works much differently than in 3.5 / Pathfinder. Players will be awarded xp for accomplishing story goals, not per encounter. The game will use the Slow experience track.
I like the experience point changes.
